MAY 29, 2024 | CHICAGO, IL – Ryan Specialty, a leading international specialty insurance firm, is pleased to announce effective immediately the appointment of Derek Pouliot to Chief Reserving Officer of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM), Ryan Specialty’s suite of managing general underwriters and national programs which provide access to insurance solutions crafted to meet the needs of specific industries.

In his expanded role, Derek Pouliot is responsible for valuation of underwriting results for all business written by RSUM, including portfolio analysis, risk modeling, early warning detection, and analytical claims data production and insights.

Derek Pouliot’s previous position at Ryan Specialty was as Senior Vice President and Chief Profitability & Risk Actuary. In this role, Derek led the creation and implementation of the RSUM profitability analysis and played an instrumental role in the establishment and maturation of Geneva Re as a risk bearing instrument supporting business written by RSUM. Prior to joining Ryan Specialty, Derek held the role of Chief Actuary and Head of Actuarial Function for a leading company in Ireland. Derek holds the Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (‘FCAS’) and Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (‘CPCU’) professional designations.
