JANUARY 27, 2025 | CHICAGO, IL – Ryan Specialty (NYSE: RYAN), a leading international specialty insurance services firm, is pleased to announce that today distinguished industry veteran, Chris Newby, has joined the firm, as General Counsel of Ryan Specialty International. Chris, who will succeed Carin Verhagen in that role following her retirement, is based in Ryan Specialty’s international headquarters in London.

Carin Verhagen has had a distinguished and illustrious legal career that has included lengthy tenures with Aon Corporation and Ryan Specialty, where she served as General Counsel of Ryan Specialty International for the past twelve years. After more than 30 years of plying her craft as a lawyer in the UK and continental Europe and being a staunch advocate for the advancement of women in the workplace, Carin will be retiring at the end of February this year.

Chris Newby brings over 25 years of insurance industry experience with him to Ryan Specialty, the majority of which has been with AIG where he was the General Counsel for the UK and EMEA, as well as Chief Operating Officer of AIG Europe Ltd for over four years. Chris is a strong advocate for a diverse and inclusive culture and the empowerment of colleagues through professional development and career opportunities.
