MARCH 19, 2025 | CHICAGO, IL – Ryan Specialty (NYSE: RYAN) (“Ryan Specialty”), a leading international specialty insurance firm, is pleased to announce the appointment effective immediately of Matt Havey to President of its alternative risk underwriting business, Ryan Alternative Risk. With this promotion, Kieran Dempsey, CEO of Ryan Alternative Risk, separates President from his title. Matt is located in Chicago.

Ryan Alternative Risk brings value to brokers and agents through a variety of innovative alternative risk offerings including single and group captives, structured solutions, credit, real estate, fronting and other risk management services for commercial clients. The talent within these disciplines offers expertise in underwriting, accounting, reinsurance and captive insurance company formation and management.

In discussing this move, Kieran Dempsey commented, “This promotion reflects Matt’s exceptional skills, commitment, and leadership. Matt joined Ryan Specialty in April 2024 as Senior Vice President of Underwriting. Prior to Ryan Specialty, Matt spent his career in alternative investments and law. Most recently, Matt was Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of a boutique private equity real estate firm in Chicago. He also previously practiced law as a corporate and securities attorney for an AmLaw 100 firm.
