Celerity Risk Introduces Innovative Name, Image & Likeness and Social Media Business Interruption Enhancement

AUGUST 31, 2026 | NEW YORK, NY
– Celerity Risk, a leading professional liability, management liability, and cyber liability solutions managing general underwriter (“MGU”) for wholesale brokers, is pleased to announce the launch of its innovative First Party Brand Reputation & Social Media Interruption Enhancement Endorsement, an unprecedented coverage designed to help address emerging risks associated with an individual’s Name, Image and Likeness (“NIL”), reputation and social media presence. Celerity Risk is a part of Ryan Specialty’s (NYSE: RYAN) underwriting management specialty, Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers.

As social media platforms increasingly serve as the primary source of income, brand value and audience engagement for public-facing individuals, there is a growing risk for negative financial impact of reputational events, digital impersonation, account compromise and platform disruptions. The rise of the creator economy has also fundamentally changed the nature of personal brand risk. Celerity Risk’s new enhancement expands traditional Media Liability coverage to help protect the commercial value of an individual’s identity, reputation and digital assets.

The endorsement provides access to coverage for defined first-party brand events, including:

  • Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) Misappropriation: Unauthorized use, exploitation or misappropriation of an insured’s name, image, likeness or social media identity, including impersonator accounts, deepfakes and certain AI-generated content
  • Reputational Harm: Sudden and unforeseen adverse publicity that results in measurable reputation management expenses
  • Social Media Business Interruption: Complete and involuntary loss of access to an insured’s social media account resulting from covered events such as account hijacking or NIL misappropriation, leading to measurable lost income or reputation management expenses

Covered losses may include:

  • Reputation management and crisis communications expenses
  • Online media monitoring services
  • Social media-related lost income following a covered business interruption event

“Today’s creators, athletes, entertainers and public figures have built businesses around their personal brands,” said Tom Nash, President of Errors & Omissions, Celerity Risk. “For many, their reputation, social media presence and digital identity are directly tied to their ability to generate income, attract opportunities and engage with their audiences. As these individuals increasingly monetize their personal brands, the potential negative financial impact of reputational events, impersonation and disruptions to social media platforms has grown significantly.”

“Traditional media liability policies were designed primarily to address third-party liability arising from content. Today’s digital economy presents a different challenge,” said Angela Buenning, Media Liability Product Lead. “A person’s name, image, likeness, reputation and digital presence can now represent significant commercial value, yet those assets remain vulnerable to emerging risks ranging from deepfakes and impersonation to reputational events and social media account compromise.”

Patrick Mitchell, President of Celerity Risk, added, “The Celerity Risk team has a long history of identifying emerging exposures and developing thoughtful solutions for evolving risks. This endorsement reflects our commitment to innovation and our ability to respond to how technology, digital media and personal brands continue to reshape today’s risk environment.”

The First Party Brand Reputation & Social Media Interruption Enhancement is available through Celerity Risk’s Media Liability platform, subject to underwriting guidelines, terms, conditions, limits and individual risk assessment.
