John Devereux is Chief Actuary for Ryan Specialty Group.

John’s areas of expertise include product development, derivation of rates, design of pricing structures and tools, analysis of overall rate adequacy, individual large account analysis, and monitoring processes, metrics and controls.

He has more than 20 years of professional actuarial experience. Prior to joining RSG, he worked at CNA Insurance Companies as an AVP and Actuary in its Global Specialty Lines business. There he managed the actuarial function that supported various CNA professional liability lines, including accountants, lawyers, real estate professionals, and small business management liability (D&O, E&O, network security, and employment practices liability). While at CNA, John also served in a Corporate Actuarial capacity, partnering with internal and external actuarial customers including CNA financial staff (Statutory & GAAP reporting), CNA Capital Management, Ceded Reinsurance Operations, state regulatory groups and their agents, CNA’s independent auditors, and other external organizations (financial analysts, rating agencies).

Prior to joining CNA, John worked as a Senior Consultant in the Actuarial and Insurance Management Solutions group at PricewaterhouseCoopers. There he was responsible for reserve valuations, ratemaking activities, strategic reviews, and reinsurance analysis for numerous insurance clients of varied sizes and across all personal and commercial lines of insurance.

John holds a B.S. in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
